Toy Story 3 (3-D)
Woody, Buzz and the rest of Andy's toys are back in what looks to be the final part of the Toy's Story. This time Andy has grown up and is about ot leave for college and he has a decision to make put his favorite toy's in the attic throw them out or donate them to a local playschool. Andy decides to take Woody with him to college and put the rest of the toys in the attic, however as with the Toy Story movies there is a mix up and Buzz and co find themselves on the way to Sunnyside Daycare. Woody of course sets off in hot pursuit to rescue his friends. However when they reach Sunnyside they are greeted by the toys that all live there in particular Lots 'O' Huggin Bear who is the patriarch of the toys. However the toys intial joy is replaced with horror as they are put in a class with the really young chilfdren which leads them to being abused and flung around. Woody then proceeds to rescue the toys however Lots 'O' Hugging bear and his group (Big Baby, Barbie's Ken doll among others) don't want their ticket out of that calss room leaving so quickly. Woody, Buzz and the gang have a choice to make accept their lot or try and get back to Andy who has discovered that the toys are gone, before he finally leaves for college.
Toy Story 3 is movie making at it's finest once again from the team at Pixar. The story was in real dnager of becoming a cash in, however in all honesty the result was never in doubt as Pixar have come up trumps once again with a film that will have you laughing, literally sitting on the edge of your seat and unless your dead, bawling like a baby by the films credits (Well at least a lump in your throat). The 3-D enhancement takes what Avatar did at the end of last year and raises the proverbial bar up several notches once again. This is how the 3-D effect should be used, it simply adds another layer which actually consumes you totally into the enviroment and world that they inhabit to the point where you have a serious emotional attachement and care for the outcomes of all involved. There are some neat touches also with the timeline progression, in particular Andy's dog Buster, who makes a welcome return.
The additional characters are all excellent with the standouts being Lots 'O'Hugging Bear (Ned Beatty), Ken (Michael Keaton) & Mr Pricklepants (Timothy Dalton) who absolutely steals the movie in the few to breif scenes he is in. It's the quality of these that makes these films timeless, when you find yourself laughing over infighting between the toys and the insults levelled at Ken are 'Your a girls toy accessory' you know you are watching sheer quality. It does at times feel like a retread over the same story as the last couple of movies though, but that can't stop you from loving every minute of quite possibly one of Pixars finest films (Behind the original Toy Story & Finding Nemo).
Finally though this is a tremendous way to close out the Toy Story franchise and the end scene is a killer for anyone who has a heart. It truly rates up there with The Champ, Love Story etc. for top movie tearjearking moments and will no doubts in the years to come be featured on many a countdown show with several non celebrities telling us how they cried behind their 3-D glasses. After going through a gamut of emotion throughout the entire run time, this film has something for everyone and is a show in come Oscar time for the best animation film, it may possibly be considered for best film too. Yes it's that good. Drop everything and whether you have kids or not go and see Toy Story 3 NOW!!
