UFC 81: Breaking Point
UFC 81 was a turning point for the UFC. After their rather public split with Heavyweight Champion Randy Coture they didn't have a Heavyweight Champion so after a qualifying match between Brandon Vera and Tim Sylvia was won by Sylvia we came to the match up between him and new heavyweight signing Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. A great title match, a see saw battle that saw a worthy winner and a new (interim?) champion crowned.
This card also saw the debut of former WWE superstar Brock Lesnar who was out to start his UFC career with a bang and prove all the doubters that he was a serious prospect in the MMA arena. lesnar was facing a difficult prospect in the shape of the former Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir and they have a short but great fight which proved that Lesnar diod indeed belong in the Octagon.
Other noteable matches included a firey matchup between Tyson Griffin and Gleison Tibau, a shcoking fight between David Heath and Tim Boetsch. A tidy package after the lacklustre UFC 80, this went someway to putting themselves back on the map again.

The Ultimate Fighter 5 ![]()
For Season 5 16 up-and-coming mixed martial arts fighters trained and lived together in Las Vegas, Nevada while participating in a single-elimination tournament, with the winner being awarded a six-figure UFC contract!
This season focuses on the Lightweights, with teams being coached by former UFC Lightweight Champion Jens Pulver and former UFC Welterweight Champion BJ Penn.
Fighters included in this seaosn were Matt Wiman, Gabe Ruediger, Joe Lauzon, Rob Emerson, Andy Wang, Allen Berube, Noah Thomas, Corey Hill, Nathan Diaz, Brandon Melendez, Marlon Sims, Manvel Gambaryan, Cole Miller, Brian Geraghty & Wayne Weems, this was a real mixed bag of talented fighters and sheer no hopers. we get usual antics at the house, getting drunk, talking smack, destroying the house, the walk outs etc. but what is still grea on this season of TUF are the fights themselves. Some absolutely dazzling fights pepper the season, with a bunch of KO's and submissions showing that it's not just the main eventers that can put on a good fight. Both Jens Pulver and BJ Penn make for really good coaches and their showdown at the finale was an excellent way to cap off the series. Not the best of the TUFs (It's still number 3), but it's up there.
Special Features include:
Finalist Profiles
Cast Interviews

Behind The Scenes of The Ultimate Finale

UFC 80: Rapid Fire
The latest event to come from the UK (Until UFC 85: Bedlam that is), it featured a wild and bloody Lightweight Title match between BJ Penn and Joe Stevenson. A great and mercifully (For the loser) short match this is another reason why the Lightweight division in the UFC is one of the most exciting in the world.
While on papaer this looked like a great card in realityu it was OK, ther were a few good matches ( Gabriel Gonzaga vs. Fabricio Werdum, Marcus Davis vs. Jess Liaudin), but for the most part they were just passable. Not one of the better cards in UFC recent history, but the main event is still worth a watch.

UFC 79: Nemesis ![]()
Without a shadow of a doubt one of the most burning questions on a MMA fans lips has been 'Whose better Liddell or Silva', with UFC 79, that question got answered. Sure it wasn't in the heyday of the UFC vs. PRIDE war, but it is still something to behold. Both Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva went at it as they were both coming of back to back losses and didn't want ot have a third on their record. A fircracker of a match that could have been a stand alone main event of it's own, however it wasn't the only main event. The co-Main event on this disc was the re match between Matt Hughes and George St.Pierre after Matt Serra got injured in training. Again this is no throwaway match this was an explosive very exciting main event.
Also, UFC 79 saw the debut of the highly vaunted Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in a match with the grossly underrated Lyoto Machida. Melvin Guillard
made his return to the Octagon against Rich Clementi and TUF 5 runner up Manvel Gamburyan took on Nate Mohr. With several other great matches this added up to a very very good card. For the Liddell/Silva match alone this is worth owning.

Quite an intresting card this one, the main event split UFC fans down the middle on not only who would win, but whether it was worthy of a main event. Featuring plenty of good fights and a couple of explosive KO's this is another great offering fromt he UFC

The same question stands for Nathan Marquardt. After an impressive start to his UFC career, can he overcome Middleweight champion Anderson Silva who has defended his title once already? Once again the UFC produces an excellent card of action. it features fast and furious action, a near KO shocker in the Herring/Nogueira bout, kenny Florian puts on another masterclass and Anderson Silva, does basically what Anderson Silva does so well. Match of the event has to goto the Sherk/Franca bout, but definetly one to add to the collection.

Tyson Griffin. This DVD is worth buying alone for this match.

The Ultimate Fighter 4: The Comeback ![]()
The Ultimate Fighter 4 – The Comeback In the fourth series of this massively popular “reality TV” show, sixteen mixed martial arts fighters living in the same house in Las Vegas, undertake three months of gruelling training and painstaking hard work as they compete to become The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).
Unlike previous series, the TUF 4 cast is composed entirely of fighters that had already fought in the UFC, but were yet to win a UFC title. Instead of coaches, the fighters are under the watchful eyes of fighters and instructors like Georges St. Pierre, Mark Laimon, Mark DellaGrotte, and UFC legend Randy Couture.
Pushed to the absolute limit, the fighters endure various genres of mixed martial arts training including Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, Karate and Muay Thai. Split into two teams and two weight classes (welterweights and middleweights), the teams compete to determine which will have the right to pair one of their own fighters against an opponent of their choice – the loser is then eliminated from the house. This continues until the four remaining fighters of each weight class are placed in a single-elimination tournament, where the title of Ultimate Fighter is awarded to the winner.
The final victor gains the sensational prize of a six-figure contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Losers walk away with the experience of competing in the renowned Octagon among some of the best MMA professionals in the business – but little else for their incredible endeavours. This great-value five-disc set containing over 13 hours of footage also includes DVD Special Features such as finalist profiles, cast interviews and deleted scenes.
This series of TUF is memorable for one thing or fighter alone Matt 'And you're breathing' Serra who really comes into his own as the makeshift captain of his team. Because the fighters have all appeared in the UFC before you get more rounded fights and some real barnstormers they are too. This disc also comes extra's heavy with some great stuff like the interviews with the cast and not seen before deleted scenes. Not the best TUF, but definetly up there.

Held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas in front of more than 14,500 fans, UFC 71 is headlined by the showdown between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell.
Discussion in the lead up to the main event, which generated a record level of media coverage for the sport in the US, revolved around whether Liddell as the current Light Heavyweight Champion, could win back the last loss on his record. Would the fight live up to the hype? When it comes to “The Iceman” and “Rampage”, anything is possible…
As usual, the rest of the fight card is packed with current and rising UFC stars. Expert grappler Karo Parisyan takes on the awesome wrestling skills of Josh Burkman, as the two battle in out for supremacy in a welterweight bout! The Ultimate Fighter Series 3 star Kalib Starnes goes head-to-head with Chris Leben in a mammoth fight that will test both the competitors’ skills and stamina.
Meanwhile Terry Martin and Ivan Salaverry prepare to reinforce the United States vs. Canada rivalry, as the two opposing nationals square up. Will Martin’s punching power overcome Salaverry’s well-rounded fighting nature, or will the Canadian take victory?

UFC 71 was yet another cracking main event with Liddell & Jackson really going for it. Once again the extras comprise a solitary (But good) documentary on the build up to the main event.
